Just Say Bang

A hybrid static/WordPress website built for digital marketing coach Evan Bang — combining lightning-fast page loads with full CMS control, a custom contact system, and a private admin portal.

The Story

Evan Bang is a digital marketing coach who helps entrepreneurs build profitable online businesses through structured coaching programs. He needed a website that matched the energy and professionalism of his brand — JustSayBANG — while giving him full control over blog content and a reliable system for capturing and managing leads.

The challenge was architectural: Evan needed a site that loaded fast (his audience includes people on mobile connections), looked premium enough to justify program pricing up to $997, and gave him the freedom to publish blog content without touching code. A single platform couldn't do all of that well. A static site would be fast but inflexible for blogging. A full WordPress site would give him CMS control but sacrifice the performance and design precision he needed on his core pages.

The solution was a hybrid approach — a high-performance static HTML/CSS/JS front-end for the 13 core pages paired with a custom WordPress theme for the blog, all sharing a unified design system so visitors never notice the seam between the two.

The Process

The design system was built around Evan's brand personality — bold, direct, and high-energy. The typography stack pairs Chakra Petch for headlines (sharp, modern, confident) with Outfit for body text (clean, highly readable) and IBM Plex Mono for technical accents. The color palette centers on an amber/yellow accent against dark section backgrounds, creating a premium feel that communicates both authority and approachability.

The static front-end was built from scratch — 13 pages including the homepage, about page, three individual program detail pages, contact page, FAQ with categorized accordion filtering, legal pages, and a custom 404 page. Every page is hand-coded HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no framework overhead.

For the blog, I developed a custom WordPress theme called "evanbang-nexus" that inherits the exact same design system — typography, colors, spacing, component patterns — so the blog feels native to the site rather than bolted on. The theme includes responsive card grids, category labels, read-time estimates, and featured images, all matching the static site's visual language.

The contact system goes well beyond a basic form. The AJAX-powered form captures first name, last name, email, phone, program interest, experience level, and an optional message — all stored in a MySQL database with simultaneous forwarding to Evan's Systeme.io CRM. Anti-spam protection includes a honeypot field, timing check, rate limiting, and server-side email validation.

To give Evan full visibility into his leads, I built a private admin portal — a separate PHP/MySQL application with an email-style inbox, individual submission detail views, read/unread status tracking, star and archive actions, search, bulk operations, and CSV export. The portal is hosted at an obscured URL path to reduce exposure to automated bot scanning, with credentials stored above the document root for security.

The Solution

The final deliverable is a 13-page static website with a seamlessly integrated WordPress blog — all sharing a unified design system. The static pages load near-instantly with zero framework overhead, while the custom "evanbang-nexus" WordPress theme gives Evan full CMS control over his blog content without touching a line of code.

The contact form captures leads through an AJAX-powered interface with program interest and experience level dropdowns, stores submissions in a MySQL database, and simultaneously forwards them to Evan's Systeme.io CRM for automated follow-up sequences. Three layers of anti-spam protection — honeypot fields, timing checks, and rate limiting — keep the inbox clean without adding friction for real visitors.

The private admin portal provides Evan with a professional inbox-style interface for managing every contact submission — complete with read/unread status, star and archive actions, search, and CSV export for reporting. Server credentials are stored above the document root, and the portal sits at an obscured path to minimize exposure.

From the bold Chakra Petch typography and amber accent palette to the three-tier pricing cards and the custom footer with CSS-inverted logo, every detail reinforces the JustSayBANG brand — confident, premium, and built to convert visitors into coaching clients.
